Connecting small-scale production (panels, batteries, etc.) to the grid
Briefly
- Read the instructions for purchasing electricity production equipment and/or a home BESS.
- After the procurement decision, contact 02 91704720 / Elvera Oy, technical service. The telephone service is open on weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm.
- A purchase agreement must be made for the surplus electricity with the electricity sales company of your choice. We will provide you with a GSRN for the purchase agreement.
- Once the production equipment/BESS has been installed and inspected, your electrical contractor will fill in and send us a general information form for small-scale production.
- Finally, once the modifications to the distribution network and the above-mentioned points have been completed, we will give permission for the commissioning of the production equipment by email.
Netting of small-scale production
Small-scale production netting refers to the netting of measurement data from interconnected consumption and small-scale production sites within a time-step (one hour or 15 minutes). With netting, the difference between consumption and production is recorded for either consumption or production, whichever is greater.
The netting calculation is carried out automatically in the datahub maintained by the electricity distribution system operator Fingrid for parallel consumption and production use sites with a nominal output of less than 100 kVA.
Energy communities
Energy communities are consortia of different actors that jointly utilise energy resources, such as their own electricity production. The members of the community share the benefits of energy production and procurement with each other. Parties living or operating in the same property or a similar group of properties and utilizing the same electricity connection, such as shareholders in housing companies, may be interested in joint energy choices, such as production or other energy solutions on their property. Datahub enabled the establishment of energy communities as of 1 January 2023.
