Nurmijärven Sähköverkko maintains electricity metering and metering equipment in its distribution network area.
In our distribution network area, electricity meter replacements are carried out by our contractor Elvera. Installers always have an ID card to show.

Maintenance
Maintenance replacement work for faulty meters in our distribution network area is ongoing throughout the year. At meter replacement sites, we aim to contact the customer by phone or text message before the meter replacement. If the installer happens to be in the area, they may show up to ring the doorbell.
Seasonal replacements
We will replace thousands of meters to ensure that the equipment meet the market changes and requirements related to electricity metering in the future. The new meters also enable the commissioning of a HAN port (Home Area Network). Replacements will be made area by area in 2024-2028.

Seasonal replacements
Why? When?
In the seasonal replacements, we replace the electricity meters in our distribution network area so that we meet all market changes and requirements related to electricity metering.
We updated our replacement plan in 2024 so that we will replace all previous generation devices in a seasonal replacement by region. The reasons for seasonal replacements in a nutshell:
- Switching to quarter-hour metering by 31.12.2028 (Decree on the Settlement and Metering of Electricity Supplies 767/2021),
- Possible shutdown of 2G networks after 31 December 2029 (Government Decision LVM/2023/22) and
- Meeting the requirements of the new remote metering equipment by 4.7.2031 (Decree on the Settlement and Metering of Electricity Supplies 767/2021).
Electricity meter replacements apply to the meter models below:
- Aidon 5000 Series (P2P, MESHNET, RS)
- Aidon 6000 Series (P2P, MESHNET, RS)
- Iskra

We will return to the 2024 area to replace the remaining old generation meters with new ones. These include the entire Aito 6000 series measuring devices.
The electricity meter is in the living quarters
Our contractor will contact you well in advance, about 2 weeks before the replacement time, and agrees on a time for the replacement. However, it must be ensured that there is unobstructed access to the meter located in the living quarters, and that the installers can work uninterrupted by e.g. keeping pets away from the work area.
The meter is located outdoors, in a meter cabinet or in the main electricity centre
In such cases, the detached houses are contacted by text message. Terraced houses and apartment buildings are informed well in advance of the replacement period.

New meters
All electricity meters to be installed meet the functional requirements of the new remote metering equipment in the Decree on the Settlement and Metering of Electricity Supplies (767/2021).
The types of measuring devices we use are:
- Genuine 7534
- Kamstrup OMNIA e-meter
The electricity meters to be installed have a customer interface, i.e. a HAN port, available. The devices have an RJ12 connector, which is supplied with an unencrypted data transfer method in the ASCII character format using the electrotechnical values measured by the device, such as e.g. voltage ratings, active and reactive power. You can find more information about the technical implementation of the interface from the links (in Finnish):
Sesko ry – SK 13-1:2021 Recommendation for the local customer interface of electrical energy meters
Aidon – RJ12 HAN interface, functional description
The HAN port is disabled by default, and we activate it at the customer’s request. After activation, the port can be connected to devices of your choice that utilise the data obtained from the meter. Nurmijärven Sähköverkko Oy only enables the use of the interface and is not responsible for the operation of home automation.
Please note that the metering data obtained through the meter’s HAN port is not eligible for invoicing because this data has not been subject to the quality checks carried out in the metering data collection and invoicing system.
